Conference Series on Attraction of Scientific Talent

The Faculty of Sciences opens its doors to a conference series on Attraction of Scientific Talent, with the objective to make known the compromise of the University of Cadiz to attract, retain and re-engage young researchers of renown value (Ramón y Cajal – R & C) and others in process of their scientific consolidation (Juan de la Cierva, Talent Hub, Marie Curie).

The session was opened by Eduardo González Mazo, Rector of the University, which continued with a roundtable discussion where the Vicerector of Research of the UCA, Casimiro Mantell, Prudencio Escamilla (President of the UCA Social Council), Marcos Pita, Vice-president of the Spanish Association of Researchers “Ramón y Cajal”, David Jiménez, representative of researchers “Ramón y Cajal” of the University of Cadiz, Carmen Castro, former researcher R&C consolidated in the UCA, and Juan José Infante, Director of R&D of the company Bionaturis, spin-off company of the UCA. The aim of this session was to discuss the role model for attracting young people. It was also hightlighted that being constant and competitive is essential to develop the own talent.

After a coffee break, some R & C researchers of the University of Cádiz were presented, where it is worth noting the high percentage of IMEYMAT members that are, or were, contracted by this prestigious program. Moreover, Juan José Delgado Jaén and Juan Carlos Hernández Garrido, currently R&C researchers at IMEYMAT, explained their excellent research careers.

After a woking lunch, it was the turn of young brilliant researchers in the proccess of consolidation (contracted by the programs “Juan de la Cierva”, “Talent Hub”, or “Marie Curie”), where once again the IMEYMAT was represented by the hand of Bertrand Lacroix, who spoke about his professional scientific trajectory that had brought him into UCA.
