Featured Article: “Size effect and scaling power-law for superelasticity in shape-memory alloys at the nanoscale”

From IMEYMAT we would like to highlight the recent publication “Size effect and scaling power-law for superelasticity in shape-memory alloys at the nanoscale” in the prestigious journal Nature Nanotechnology by Dr. Sergio I. Molina and Dr. Jesús Hernández Saz of Materials and Nanotechnology for The Innovation team and coordinated by Prof. José María San Juan and his PhD Student José F. Gómez-Cortés at Pais Vasco University.

This publication which has been echoed in the press and internet:

“This paper reveals some fundamental aspects of the nanoscale behavior of the CuAlNi shape memory alloy. It has been observed that the critical tension, when the shape of the material changes, varies with the size. Observed in nano- and micromechanized abutments below two microns in diameter up to 260 nanometers in diameter. This effect, which depends on the size of the tested material, has been modeled and the law governing it has been found. – portaldecadiz.com
