Jamming Show, Rutas por el Nanomundo

Under the program of outreach activities organized for the Science Week by the Faculty of Sciences, last Thursday, November 15, the second session of the Scientific outreach activity ‘Routes for the Nanoworld’ was held, an initiative coordinated by the teacher Óscar Bomati Miguel, from the Department of Condensed Matter Physics at the University of Cádiz, and funded by the Science and Knowledge Dissemination Plan (UUC + i) of the University of Cádiz.

The Jamming Show format is an innovative system that combines the use of different communication tools, such as audiovisual, role-play, stage art and the debate table, in order to make the viewer / participant an active part of the science. When the spectators enter in the place of celebration of the event, they receive a card that they then use to participate in the debate that they intend to carry out around the central theme of the event. In this case, the role of Nanotechnology was addressed as an opportunity for the development of a new industrial revolution. After a brief presentation of this topic, several questions were asked, giving way to the debate among experts in the field, which on this occasion was carried out by researchers from the University of Cádiz assigned to the Institute of Electron Microscopy and Materials (IMEYMAT) and the Faculty of Science. These scientists explained their different points of view, being able to support their arguments with graphic elements, infographics, etc. The debate was moderated by a master of ceremony, who subsequently made the participants participate in a different and innovative format.
